As I was going through some of my older photographs, I felt a few deserved to be pulled out and allowed to see the light of day. I’m a strong proponent of getting photos printed and, although these had been printed for my personal use, I thought I’d compile them into a video slideshow. The sample of photography in the video below spans a wide range of subjects and locations so they definitely are not theme-based.

It has become mainstream these days for photographers to share their new or ongoing work on social media platforms, such as Instagram of which I am not a fan. It’s my intention that presenting these images in this way is a more rewarding experience than the zipper-speed scroll of Instagram.

My hope is that this may allow for a more considered view. Just one more of my little experiments. I also realize adding some soft background music may add to the experience — or not. I’d welcome honest feedback to viewing images in this way. {Yes, I definitely plan on continuing to share images in my posts — no changes here.}

And on an entirely different note, I couldn’t resist sharing this person’s innovative artistry that I came across recently. Check out Vincent Bal’s creatively reimagined shadows.

So I consider myself an autodidact, which is just a fancy word for someone who takes responsibility for constantly teaching themselves new things. I’m a self-teacher.

  1. Silence, stillness, and beauty, a wonderful combination! I wish I could explain how your photos make me feel. They create a feeling of peace and gratefulness in these trying times! Thank you for sharing “how you see things!”

  2. A splendid video showcasing the beautiful photographs. I didn’t hear any background music. Some photos proved to be a lot to look at, so the transition time between some photos should be increased. Was it a set time between photos? I did a video of photographs once. It was done to a particular singer’s song, so I felt that the photos had to somewhat relate to the lyrics. That turned out to be cumbersome, so I decided any future video should be elevator music with no lyrics so that the photos didn’t have to be tied to the lyrics. I loved that link to the reimagined shadows. He is so creative.
