renewed

I’ve been wanting to do this for over a year. The other day I finally moved all the furniture around in my office so my desk would be sitting directly in front of the large sun-filled window. It feels great!

Now I can fully enjoy the light; when the window is partly open I can smell the air and hear the hummingbirds buzzing as they feed on the flowers just below; plus it’s purely uplifting to be in the light, with only meaningful items right beside me.

in the forest

There have been walks in the forest with Heidi, sometimes in the rain, sometimes not. I’m filled with gratitude to have time, health, and the means to live so close to both beach and forests. Walks along the beach, serenaded by gulls and the voice of the sea. Leaves blown, then nestled among the rocks and shells, often form shelter for tiny insects and other mysterious inhabitants. Ancient rocks, stoic and worn smooth over time, and for thousands of years have born witness to times we couldn’t imagine, both on land and sea.

find what brings you joy, and go there

“If it weren’t for the rocks in its bed, the stream would have no song.”

  1. Your blog and beautiful photos bring me joy. I need to visit more often! I too have my computer desk in front of a window where I can see the backyard and many bird feeders. 🙂

  2. I can’t believe you found that quote by Carl Perkins. I’m assuming it’s the same fellow who wrote and sang Blue Suede Shoes back in 1956. I wonder if it’s from one of his songs?

  3. Thought-provoking quotes that are unforgettable. Your office chair adds a nice “pop” of colors. My joy will take me away from the other joys in my life, providing me the conundrum I’ll be facing in the new year.
