“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” said Ansel Adams.

Keeping to my word to post my personal favourite images taken in the previous month, these nine are my choices from January 2021. I see it’s fairly evident January was a month of exploration in and around the forest. As I mentioned, I will be getting each of my favourite nine printed. To keep shipping costs down, I’ve decided to send them out two months at a time, but already I can hardly wait to hold them in my hands.

Because these are squeezed into squares, some lose their full impact this way

Although I did mention when I posted the previous nine, when selecting which are my favourites, do I base it on technical merit or on feelings? Some I may consider for their technical merit though I can’t help but choose the ones that conjure warm or otherwise positive feelings.

And so my lovelies, may you and your pursuits bring you immense joy as we move forward into the weekend and another week ahead.

  1. I forgot to add that we have a 16″ x 20″ frame that we decided to showcase the best photo of the season, changing them out every 3 months.

  2. A splendid collection of beautiful photographs! I can’t tell if they are crepuscular rays or just sunlight and shadow in the last photo, but that one strikes me the most. Compared to the climate around here, these look more like April/May photos. Beautiful scenes captured in January. Have a fabulous weekend!

  3. Beautiful, Diane! I love printing photo books of my faves. This year I also chose my 12 faves from 2020 & created a calendar. As well, I have a few frames around the house that I change out periodically. It is so nice to see them printed!

  4. Really like the power of the river running between the forest and how the fallen trees seem to be a futile attempt at stopping the flow. It reminds me of impermanence and this quote by Alan Watts:
“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
