There is a blossoming from within when someone touches our soul so deeply and profoundly. International Women’s Day fell on Friday of last week and I wrote this on my Facebook page, “On this International Women’s Day, I’m honouring and grateful for the woman who was the most influential in my life. She taught me to be strong, independent, grateful for even the simplest things in life, considerate of others, and fair. My mom.”

I’m one of those who tends to only have family and a few close friends from childhood in my circle of Facebook friends. It touched me deeply when the following two comments were written in response to my brief post:

From one of my cousins, “That is a fantastic picture of your Mom. Her smile was infectious and her generosity exceptional. I loved sitting down in discussions with her in her later years. I miss that!”
From one of my childhood friends, “She was an awesome lady…always very kind and welcoming to your friends!”

the beauty of wilted roses

“Real beauty is in the fragility of your petals. A rose that never wilts isn’t a rose at all.” — words by Crystal Woods

“What are life weeds? All of the unwanted things that creep into our lives and before we know it they have choked the life out of the things that actually do matter.” — Heather Longhurst wrote an excellent online article about life weeds.

“Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.” –said Samuel Smiles

My wish for you for this coming week is that you find and embrace a little beauty within your days.

  1. How wonderful to have a mother such as yours. At my mother-in- law’s funeral children of her friends spontaneously got up and spoke of their fond memories of her. A special tribute indeed. I’m a great believer in the power of beauty.

  2. beautifully combined thoughts and images

i must say, the bokeh and color palette in the minimalism of the last image is just superb
