I recently read a lovely post, “100 blogs I love to read (and you might love too),” from a blogger celebrating 15 years of blogging. That had me checking to see how long I’ve been blogging. I realized I’ve been doing this one since November 1999 — that’s 22 years!

But when I went back to read the first post, I realized I’ve been blogging longer than that. That post was the first one hosted at WordPress. Previously I had been blogging at Blogger but strongly disliked the format and found it poorly functioning both as a blogger and for readers too. I honestly can’t remember how long I had been blogging at Blogger but it had to have been at least a year, maybe longer. When I deleted that first one to move to this venue, I never thought to make note of when I got started.

So that’s a bit of a long story. But back to the blog that got me thinking. I noticed a few of the blogs I visit are also on Pip’s list, but of course, I have others that I visit (I definitely do not visit anywhere close to 100; sadly, there isn’t enough time). Even if you don’t read her entire post, I definitely recommend reading her first paragraph — so well stated.

Over the years, especially with the advent of social media, a lot of bloggers left their posts and jumped on the ‘social media’ wagon. I’m delighted that more and more people are back blogging or have resumed ones they had abandoned. I’d love to know of any blogs you particularly enjoy, if you’d care to share them below. Tell me briefly what you find appealing about any that you suggest I check out.

Oh, and if you’re thinking of starting up a blog, or giving yours a makeover, I highly recommend Kerry Clare’s Blogging School. I believe there are still openings for her next session beginning in February.

If you enjoyed this why not share it with a friend or post about it on social media. Thank you for reading and sharing your time with me. — Diane

  1. Congratulations on your milestone! I second your sentiments preferring blogs over social media. I am so glad I have stayed away from social media. I know too many people who got themselves in trouble with FB. I definitely need to come back to that link you provided and check it out.

  2. Like you , I much prefer blogs to the quick tidbits posted on social media. I’ve been reading blogs for years and have recently discovered many more, including yours! I only started blogging late last year, after taking Kerry’s blog school. I find blogs are much more thoughtful and give you a deeper look at the writer, their life and thoughts. Makes for much more satisfying reading!

  3. Can’t wait to dive into that list of 100 blogs! Thank you for sharing! And what an accomplishment to stick with blogging for all these many years – happy I found you!
