A Grand Special for Grande Prairie & area :: Custom On Location Photographer

Get a free custom photography session! Yes, the entire $125 session fee is complimentary for this special. You definitely wouldn’t save $125 if you were buying a $300 gas (bbq) grill or a $300 outdoor wicker chair for the patio. The local plumber or yard clean up crew certainly aren’t going to take $125 off their bill, so check this one out.

Instead, pay only for your prints and other photographic products by purchasing a $300 print credit. After your complimentary session, pick your choice of images for any prints or products using your $300 credit. The possibilities are practically endless. You could end up selecting a variety of quality professional prints, add a brag book or two, and something big for your walls! Order whatever your heart desires.

This is a limited offer and based on a first-come, first-served basis to the first three (3) people to book (payment is required to hold your booking). Ideal for individuals, couples, teens, or small families (maximum of 4). So if you live within a 150 km radius of Grande Prairie, Alberta, get in touch and let’s do a fully customized photo session so you can update those outdated photos currently on your walls!

The only fine print: cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion and session must be completed prior to September 2010.

Half Price in 2010 for Digital Packages :: Grande Prairie, AB Custom On-location Photographer

Yes, that’s right. Effective January 1, 2010 all clients receive one half off the regular price of my Digital Packages. Now that spring is upon us and some of you are coming back to enquire about another session, I thought it was an ideal time to remind everyone about the changes that came about on January 1st.

As some of you may know, prior to 2010 I was not offering images in digital form except for low resolution web-ready versions (to share on Facebook, emails, and other web purposes). Since I had serious enquiries about digital options, I listened to my clients requests so my 2010 investment brochure included two different digital packages. Full details are available when you book your session with me but here is what the two digital packages include:

The Prairie Digital

You can print as many copies of these digital files in whatever sizes you please – make lots of copies and give them as gifts! Includes

• Five (5) high resolution digital files with printing release

• 5×7 print for each of the 5 selected images (to demonstrate how they should reproduce)

• One 8×10 print from any of your images (does not have to be one of the 5).

The Blue Sky Digital

You can print as many copies of these digital files in whatever sizes you please – make lots of copies and give them as gifts!

• Eight (8) high resolution digital files with printing release

• 5×7 print for each of the 8 selected images (to demonstrate how they should reproduce)

• One 11×14 Wall Portrait from any of your images, mounted and ready to frame (does not have to be one of the 8).

The great thing, besides offering these two digital packages from now on, is that for the entire year in 2010 you get either of these digital packages at HALF PRICE! Can’t beat that for value. Yes, all year long at half price.

I continue to offer a complimentary web-ready, watermarked copy of every image ordered as a print so you may share it with friends and family either by email or on social networking sites.

NOTE, IF TRYING TO CONTACT ME: I will be in Edmonton from Friday through to Sunday night and will not have access to the Internet. See you on Monday!

Become a Fan for a Chance to Win

With the winter Olympics still quivering in our systems, what better time to run a contest!  Not too long ago I created a Facebook fan page for my photography business and am working at building the fan base so I don’t have to send out newsletters by email and to better communicate what’s new and upcoming. My current goal is 100 fans. Between today and when the 100th person becomes a fan, every new fan will be entered in a draw. Odds of winning are very high if you see how close we are to 100. At that point, I will have a friend make a random draw for me and the person whose name is drawn will receive one half (1/2) off my session fee for a 2010 booking, and the person referring the winner will win a complimentary session!  Check out Diane Schuller Photography on Facebook to become a fan!

You’re likely wondering if there is a catch. No catch, but the ideal people to refer are those who live in or around Grande Prairie, Alberta or within the Peace River region of northern Alberta since those are the areas I primarily service. (For example:  Beaverlodge, Clairmont, Grovedale, Hythe, LaGlace, Sexsmith, Spirit River, Valhalla, Wembley — you get the idea! Also, since I’m so close, I also service the Dawson Creek, Pouce Coupe, and Tomslake areas of northern BC).

What’s the advantage of being a FB fan? Fans are the first to know about upcoming specials, promotions, contests, model searches, and other news. Also, some of the contests will be strictly for fans-only. Fans don’t get spammed and Facebook does NOT give the business (Diane Schuller Photography) access to the fan’s (you) personal information. Don’t forget that I also do pet and horse (any livestock) photography — that’s how I got started. So be sure to let your friends, family, coworkers know about my services and Facebook fan page. Thanks a bunch!

Please share my Facebook photography fan page with friends, family, and co-workers for your chance to win!

PS: You do not have to live in the area to become a fan but for this particular contest to win the prize you need to be in the area so you can ‘collect’ your winnings!

Good luck everyone — ready, set, go!

Eating my Words

dsc_1096

It was only weeks ago I talked here about what a waste of time many of the social networks seem to be. Twitter was the main brunt of my wrath since any blogs I had visited that also sported their Twitter feed seemed to be so full of mundane jabber. That sort of chatter, in my view anyway, is more appropriately shared in personal emails rather than broadcast to the world. Not once did I ever see anything of value. I simply don’t see wasting my time reading about how bored they are, what’s on TV, how messy their hair is, that they are going to bed now, and other mundane drivel. It is for all those reasons I couldn’t see any value whatsoever in using Twitter. Well, writing colleague Pat Steer and I had a conversation on the writing forum (at Dog Writers Association of America) we both belong to. She made a solid enough case for Twitter as a networking tool and directed me to this article so I decided I’d give it a try on a one-month trial basis. It didn’t take long for me to have to eat my original words!

A lot depends on what a person chooses to post as their tweet (see, I’m even learning the lingo). Who you follow is just as important. Pat, of course, was one of my initial people to follow and as I read a few tweets by professionals or those in the areas of my interests (photography, dogs, environment, natural wellness, gardening, local news for instance) I began to see the real potential. It can be a place of sharing useful information, articles of interest, purposeful networking, local news & events, and even specials (photography specials perk my twitter ears). Used correctly, it can also be a valuable venue for self promotion whether you’re an artist, photographer, realtor, author, freelance writer, or anyone with a service or product to sell.

Some people out-of-the-blue sometimes add themselves as a “follower” (this is a twitter term) and when that occurs, I check their twitter home page. I can tell immediately if I wish to reciprocate — or perhaps block the person. If all I read from an individual and their twitter-friends is drivel, they get the heave-ho! Simple as that. If I read some worthwhile content on their home page then I’ll likely add them to my list.

I should also mention that it’s important to allow a person’s personality to come through so that others can get to know us. That means, of course, we’ll tweet about topics that aren’t necessarily ‘business-related’ or ‘craft-related’ or whatever. It’s a bit of a balancing act, like so many other things in life. I must admit that I’ve also seen the complete opposite end where some business people post absolutely nothing but sales they have or strictly business ‘stuff’ — that is every bit as much of a turn off! Who wants that, right!

I don’t have a lot of extra time for visiting and reading blogs though I definitely try to visit a few when I get pockets of time here and there. I’m finding that I now check Twitter once or twice a day for very brief periods: no more than 15 minutes and usually less time. In that time I can read several tweets by multiple people. If there is an article, blog entry, or other item of interest referenced I will often click on the link provided. It’s quick, handy, and always within my areas of interest.

If you wish to give Twitter a try as I have, here is a great little article providing 10 Twitter Tips to give you a leg-up towards success.

So, eating my words, Twitter has proven to be a quick and easy networking tool. As with so many things in life, it is what you make it. If you Twitter, I welcome you to follow me! Have you found Twitter to be a valuable networking tool, useful for self promotion (of your business, craft, personal interests, or >>>>), or a source of other worthwhile information?

{Other topics coming up this week: how to approach strangers (for photographers); wedding photograph DIY, and a few other tidbits here and there.}
