Custom Christmas Cards :: Grande Prairie Photographer

I’m so far behind that I haven’t posted some of the beautiful client products for a while. Here is one more sample of the custom Christmas cards that recently arrived. The back of their card is all red but I didn’t think it was necessary to include a visual of that. I am so pleased with these and so are my happy clients, right L & M? :) with a wink.

I’m still anxiously awaiting the gorgeous 24×36 canvas of these two beautiful girls. I’ll make a point of taking pictures of the canvas when it arrives. I have two more sets of cards I haven’t posted yet. I’ll try and slip those in shortly.

Christmas Cards :: Custom Photography, Grande Prairie & Edmonton Alberta

Yes, I still refer to this season as Christmas. Not Xmas, not Happy Holidays, not Seasons Greetings, and no other generic terminology. Christmas is Christmas.

These are two custom cards I made for recent clients. I didn’t begin promoting the Christmas cards early enough this year but plan to have my act together for 2010. I’m pleased with how these two turned out. I have two more to work on plus a family that will be ordering some once they narrow down their image choices. These were actually easier to do than I thought they might be even though I’m using a template before customizing each one. I’ve also been creating my own title pages for client’s books and have become much more comfortable with some of the designs I’ve come up with for the book covers. Once I get caught up with everything, I’ll begin to post some of my design attempts (mostly book covers right now).

In the next couple days I will do my best to try and respond to those who have left comments since I’ve been away last week — slow but sure as the tired saying goes. The next post will likely be the one with my tutorial on how I make my designer envelopes. Since I’m so busy I thought I’d leave you with one of my favourite quotes — something uplifting and motivating:

“We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.” ~ Mary Dunbar

Here is to discovering your own special light!

What Do You Believe In? … That You Can’t Prove?

I promised to answer that question and, since I’m taking a break from my heavy workload, now is a great time. When I took time to ponder my response, I came up with multiple responses but I’m going to share the response that first came to my mind. I believe in intuition especially mother’s intuition. There have been many times in my own life when I’ve had some intuition and, more often it seems, intuition tends to be a form of prescience of bad news or an unfortunate incident. I can think of times when I’ve had a bad feeling pertaining to someone and that turned out to be the case. I can think of having a thought about one of my cousins who I hadn’t been in touch with for years. She and I kind of hung out as kids but then went our separate ways as adults. She came to mind out of the blue one day, I had a bit of an image of her in my mind, and a terrible feeling deep in my gut. A week later I learned she had been killed and that happened on the day I thought of her. I remember my  mom telling me of incidences where she had some kind of intuition that I was in danger — she was right each time (once was a bad car accident I was involved in, another was a time of great sadness for me, and another time was a horseback riding accident). So, I do believe in intuition — whether what is being intuited is good or bad.

I can’t write a post without leaving some form of image so here’s a beautiful and healthy rooster. My mom really liked chickens, ducks, and geese and I do too. I love the soft cooing sound they make when they’re content. Enjoy!
