“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ? Roald Dahl

“It’s a marshmallow world in the winter
When the snow comes to cover the ground
It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day
I wait for it the whole year round.”

Santa really enjoys visiting homes where he can see the previous year’s gift he left behind being enjoyed a whole year later. After he makes his rounds on Christmas the reindeer whisk him back home where he regales Mrs. Claus with stories of the marshmallow world from which he has just returned.

What are some of your favourite memories of Christmas past?

  1. My most valuable memory of Christmas pasts is my dad doing all the Christmas decorations around the house. He was SO good at it!! He loved it and had great taste! Merry Christmas, Diane!!

  2. Merry Christmas, Diane. When I was little, my parents and I used to drive from Rockford, IL, where we lived, to Chicago, IL (about 90 miles), where my paternal grandparents lived and come back home late Christmas Eve after a day of fun with my cousins. I would lay in the back seat of the car, all nice and warm, and pray really hard that I would see the Star of Bethlehem on the drive back. Never did but every year I was sure it would happen.

  3. Hi Diane I love the Roald Dahl quote and your lovely photo. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year..

  4. Perfect image, Diane and lovely post. When I was young we spent every Christmas with my paternal grandparents in their cozy home in a small Ontario town not too far from where I live now. One of the things I remember most vividly is the creativity of my grandfather, who made many Christmas decorations from things he had around the house, old mirrors, old coffee cans…He was one of the original recyclers and upcyclers! He created a wondrous environment for kids on very little money. And my two grandparents would cook together and make wonderful comforting meals. He was one of the first male feminists I knew too. Actually he was a Renaissance man. I have a few of the tree ornaments he made. I wish I had more but I treasure the ones I do have. Wishing you and yours a most wonderful Christmas and bright, happy and healthy New Year.
