About the young senior couple (oh about 60-ish or so) who were so wonderfully in love. While sitting two rows behind them at the Michelle Wright concert. He had his arm around her shoulders and would sometimes hug her close while the singer sang. They would look at one another from time to time, obviously something in the lyrics meant something special to them. They held hands and walked so casually during the intermission and returned to their seats in that same easy-going manner. It reminded me of how lovers respectfully held one another back in the 60’s. It wasn’t rude or overt; simply genuine and real.

Something is happening to my creative soul. It’s not running dry, if that’s the first thing that comes to mind. On the contrary. My inner cup runneth over and it’s hard to keep it contained. You see, I’m finding that I’m so inspired in so many different channels of creativity, I’m beginning to wonder if I should slow myself down. I’m wanting to get back into film photography and that’s not such a slide because I’ve been there before. I’ve also had hankerings to go back and write some short stories — something I always loved to do. But more than that my creative whirlwind has included thoughts — quite serious ones at that — of taking an art class of some sort (mixed media and watercolour being at the top of that list); to learn how and begin to do watercolour journaling (oooh that one has a real fire lit in my steam engine); taking a dance class; cooking of all sorts — oh sure, I’ve been cooking for decades but now I’m actually enjoying it!; and I’ve also been wanting to start making a bunch of homemade items (think sewing or knitting) and DIY crafts. Sheesh, see what I mean? So many things brewing in that creative soul and now I’m not sure which to act upon.

So where has your creativity taken you lately?

PS: I want to thank all of you lovely people who have sent me emails and messages after visiting the artist feature over at Sherry Galey’s blog. Your notes and thoughts have meant a great deal to me.

  1. I know how you feel — I am really wanting to take up guitar again, take a cooking class, and do some creative writing myself! Must be something in the air…?

  2. I dabble a little in everything. I am better at finishing projects at this point in my life. The world is so filled with beauty it is hard to choose what to respond to first. Winter is a great time to work with textiles as it gets dark so soon. I will be interested to know what you endeavor to do.

  3. I totally get where you’re coming from – there are so many things I want to do, I don’t know where to start! Hubby and I have been on a roll lately getting projects done, and my mind is just overflowing with all sorts of ideas 🙂

Why not go out and buy a couple of canvases and painting supplies, and just play around and see what you come up with? Taking lessons is a great idea too, but it might be fun to just go with your gut and see what you can come up with yourself 🙂
