Colour My World :: Grande Prairie Photographer – Dogs, Horses

Playing around with some colourful images from the archives. Enjoy.

3 Paint horses on Alberta prairie

I love photographing horses whether they’re simply hanging out, showing off, or working. The same can be said about photographing dogs and people ๐Ÿ™‚

Springer Spaniel swimmingThis one was easy to capture. She’s our 11 year old Springer Spaniel. It doesn’t matter to her that the water is barely above zero and that the water is so cold it numbs fingers within seconds (if held in the water). I love how the water ripples and bends the light and reflections. Something magical about water. I hope you’re having a magical weekend.

I love horses’ curious looks when we humans approach….maybe they hope for a treat.
The dog swimming is such a nice action shot. Love the ripples.

Love your springer in the water!

We are now letting Mingus go free on the walks sometimes. He is pretty good to stay close until we near the area where the ground squirrels live. Then he goes crazy, barking his head off racing from hole to hole and it takes some convincing to get him back! Usually I pick up the lead line (the short one is on if he is free) before we get there. I also have him on lead if I know we will meet other dogs. The other day he snapped the retractable line right out of its casing as he barreled towards a border collie. The border collie’s owner could hardly believe that he snapped his line … nor could I! Powerful little guy.

Love the horses with their curious yet majestic stance, but the dog has me laughing. What a hoot it must be. I can imagine it always being into something. Zoli is that way. He doesn’t like leaves or tiny anything blowing around on his patio. The nerve of those things moving around like that. This past winter was cold for Arkansas and he laid right out in the cold and freezing rain. Now, it’s been up into the 80’s and he’s looking at us like, “Could it be any hotter?!” lol…dogs are such a joy. Love the image.
