Busiest Week Ever … so far

Oh my gosh peoples — this has been my busiest week ever photographically speaking. And talk about a wide range of experiences. I can’t yet share many sneak peeks because I must, must, must finish editing one from last week first. It’s interesting sometimes the people I meet. I was exposed to some intriguing people and, if I was still active full time in freelance writing, oh goodness did I encounter stories this week. One of which I must keep quiet until the magazine is on the news stands, but at least I can share a photo or two (this is from the magazine shoot I did). Then it’s back to finishing an earlier photo shoot so one of my clients can finally see all their selected proofs. Oh gosh, I love what I do and do what I love. Tell me what you love to do!! I LOVE to meet people and capture their stories (Love it!).

dsc_0581This guy has a great vision! I could spend all kinds of time with this sustainably-minded family. What a great evening that was (above). {This one isn’t SOOC; I did a bit of a vintage treatment to it obviously.}

dsc_0638This 14 month old boy is already a savvy Saskatoon picker! No, he wasn’t one of the subjects of my photo shoot but I couldn’t resist quickly moving over and squatting to get a shot of him.

dsc_1747One day he’ll be able to pick n’ run like his older brothers!

dsc_1744Doesn’t her calf look like a buffalo calf? This family runs their cattle operation in a highly sustainable way, raising them and finishing them on lush (rotated) pastures rather than sending them to feedlots. This is just one aspect of their amazing life. I could write oodles about this family — not to mention everyone else I’ve had the pleasure to shoot. Did I mention I love what I do? Oh yea, I did already.

This is a long weekend here in Canada. My dear husband has headed out to Edmonton for the weekend (missing him already) though I have another photo shoot over the weekend. Have a truly enjoyable and fulfilling weekend everyone!

Catching up with you again Diane-what a great shoot that was. I love the little boy picking berries-the orange stripe down his arm really catches and directs the eye.

You are an inspiration….in finding what you love and pursuing it!!! Wonderful series of images. Especially love the first one – how the cows (they are cows..aren’t they??) frame the people beyond. Great processing!!!

The photos of the kids are wonderful. Excellent composition and color processing.

These are wonderful Diane! And my heart soars to hear how happy you are. I love taking photos too, and I hope someday to get paid for it. We’ll see. I also love writing, and I hope I can somehow figure out what kind(s) of writing I’m suppose to do!

I think the last photo is my favorite. That calf is so cute. And, yes, it looks like a buffalo calf!

Wow! I’ve been away from blogging for a week and I sure missed a lot! What great photos these are! I hope you are having a wonderful long weekend!

I like that hairy horned beast. Nice soft light too.

Great photos, you’re lucky to make a living at what you love. Cute cows!

Love that last shot of the cows — the baby DOES look like a little buffalo!! So cute ๐Ÿ™‚ The cow in the first picture looks kinda angry!!

What do I love to do… I love to write and I love to decorate and I love to write about decorating. Unfortunately, I don’t do either of those things for a living ๐Ÿ™ Well, officially I’m a Technical Writer, but I don’t get to do the fun & creative writing that I like best. I’d love to hear about your experience as a freelance writer — and if you have any tips about how to get into the business, please pass them along!!

You’re so lucky that you love what you do and you do what you love…. I hope to be that lucky too one day….
